Secure software supply chain solution provider Chainguard Inc. today unveiled a vulnerability-hunting service that uses frontier artificial intelligence models such as Anthropic PBC’s Claude Mythos 5.1, as well as two products for securing AI coding agents and an expansion of Chainguard Libraries. All four arrived at the company’s Assemble London conference today. Vulnerability hunting falls to Chainguard Harness, which reports only the flaws it can reproduce against a live build of a customer’s application. Developers and their agents get a hardened, credential-free cloud environment from Chainguard Workspaces. Because that work still has to be tested, Chainguard paired Workspaces with Chainguard Checks,…

Like other recent glasses from Meta, the audio-only frames have 6 mics and open-ear speakers. Music, podcasts and phone calls sounded just as good as my Gen 2 glasses. One quirk of the audio-only glasses is that the microphones are in slightly different places. There are now two mics on the front of the frames, replacing the ones that were embedded in the nosepads in previous models. The other four are on the arms. This new placement didn’t seem to affect things, though. Friends and family told me I sounded clearer on calls when I was wearing the audio glasses,…

Tesla says it will finally stream its next-generation Roadster event this Thursday, October 15, at 7:55 pm Central, two weeks after it was supposed to happen. It’s the latest date in a long list of them. Tesla first showed the Roadster in November 2017 and promised production in 2020. Nearly nine years later, it hasn’t delivered a single one. The event was originally scheduled for October 1 in Texas. On September 28, Tesla called it off, saying it had been “tracking the weather closely with local meteorologists” and that the show “can only be held outdoors.” The new date was…

Wisconsin-based We Energies has announced a plan to build a new natural gas-fired power plant at the site of an existing gas-fired facility in the state. The utility earlier this month filed an engineering plan with state regulators for construction of a 750-MW station at the Fox Energy Center, in Wrightstown in the Fox Valley region. The utility did not reveal an estimated cost for the project, which it calls the Fox North Energy Center. Brendan Conway, a spokesperson for We Energies, in a statement said the new plant will improve power grid reliability and support the growing need for…

Semiconductor industry giant Applied Materials Inc. today opened the doors to its Equipment and Process Innovation and Commercialization Center, a massive new $5 billion facility in Silicon Valley that’s set to enable the next wave of breakthroughs in the commercial chipmaking industry. The new EPIC Center, as it’s called, was built by Applied in order to provide the industry with a shared research and development facility, where some of the world’s smartest engineers can collaborate on new process manufacturing technologies. The launch comes at a critical time. As artificial intelligence infrastructure buildouts continue to scale and frontier models become increasingly…

If you simply look at the numbers, you might think that an R2 Performance lags way behind a top-spec R1S, which offers up to 1,025 horsepower with its quad-motor option. But that’s not a fair comparison because a dual-motor R1S (533 hp and 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds) actually has less horsepower and oomph than an R2 Performance (656 hp and a 0 to 60 time of 3.6 seconds). And when you combine that with a lighter curb weight of around 5,000 pounds (versus 6,600 to 7,100 pounds for the R1S), you get an SUV that pulls like a…

Once America’s most popular electric pickup, Ford’s F-150 Lightning is finding a second life on the used market. Ford F-150 Lightning finds buyers in the used market The F-150 Lightning is hard to pass up at 50% to 60% off sticker price, even used. With new models no longer available, Ford’s electric pickup is suddenly selling like hotcakes on the used market. After the last model rolled off the assembly line last December, CEO Jim Farley said the decision to end production came as the “very high-end EVs, the $50K, 70K, $80,000 vehicles, they just weren’t selling.” At 50% to…

Over 2,060 gigawatts. That is the staggering volume of generation and storage capacity currently trapped waiting in U.S. interconnection queues. According to data from RMI, the typical project now takes almost five years—stuck in administrative and transmission review before a single watt can be delivered to the grid. In 2008, it was only two years. For traditional utilities navigating today’s explosive demand, that timeline has become a structural crisis. COMMENTARY Driven by the immediate, expanding load growth of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and compounding power needs, utilities and their customers increasingly cannot wait five years for new transmission capacity. They…

Arti: Yeah, so I think for us, we think about a triple mandate around responsible AI, and that means that it’s secure, it’s efficient, and that includes environmentally efficient, and then it really preserves human safety and human oversight above all. And for us, that’s what some of our core pillars of responsible AI include. And for us, that means we think about internally as we build tools, a multi-layered governance approach where we’ve got both for how we use AI as a company and then how we deploy AI into our products. We’ve got a similar framework that we…
